Our UTA Walk/Run Tour is being held again this year with a significant difference. It will be 3.8 miles long and takes place on an old historic railway trail. The trail ends at the Hoover Dam where there will be a finish line, sponsorship signs and banners. You will have plenty of time for photos and networking. Lunch and refreshments will be supplied.
This trail follows the old historic railroad bed high above Lake Mead and runs through five 25-feet diameter tunnels, roughly 30 yards long, through volcanic ridges. This railroad site was built in 1931 and used for hauling equipment and materials for the construction of the Hoover Dam. The railroad was used heavily until the Hoover Dam was finished in 1935. It remained in use by the dam workers until 1961 and the tracks were dismantled in 1962. In 1984 this site was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places.
This tour’s sponsorship dollars support the UTA Jerome Nerman Family Foundation Scholarship Fund and all proceeds go to our ten individual scholarship recipients. It’s easy to sign up and before the tour receive your Walk/Run tee shirt.
